Vantaa Libraries to Receive a Bestowal of Children's Books in Spanish from Argentina, Chile and Uruguay

The ambassadors of Argentina, Chile and Uruguay and the chairwoman of Kulttuurikeskus Ninho are bestowing a selection of children´s books in Spanish for the libraries of Vantaa.

The Mayor of Vantaa, Ritva Viljanen, is to receive the collection in an event on September 20, 2021, in Tikkurila library.

The book bestowal is a part of the cultural program of Kolibrí Festivaali, organized this year on September 20-26, 2021, a Kulttuurikeskus Ninho ry production. The bestowal features a collection of children’s and youth literature from contemporary authors and editors: this year they are from Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay.

The event of the bestowal is streamed online on September 20 at 4:15 pm on Helmet Vantaa Youtube. The event is in English.

The Kulttuurikeskus Ninho aims is to enrich the book titles available in Spanish and Portuguese in the Helmet's Children’s and Youth Book Collection. The book bestowal program has been active since 2016 in cooperation with the Ibero-American embassies in Finland, the Ibero-American institutions promoting children’s literature, as well as the writers and illustrators invited at Kolibrí Festival. The program has brought already more than 100 titles of children’s and youth literature in Spanish and Portuguese to the Helmet libraries.

Kolibrí is a multicultural and multilingual, free, and open art festival for children and families. This year Kolibrí celebrates its 10th edition.
