If you have been exposed to coronavirus, here you will find practical instructions for quarantine.

Are you infected with coronavirus? Read isolation instructions here.

1. Avoid all contact

Stay at home and only transact with those living in the same household, in other words,

  • Do not invite guests or, for instance, a cleaner to your home. If a home care nurse visits you, tell them about your situation in advance.
  • Do not go to your workplace (work from home), school or day-care center.
  • Do not go to a store, shopping mall, restaurant, pharmacy, bureau, library, theater or other public premises.
  • Do not go to a gym, gym session, indoor swimming pool or other hobby place.
  • Do not go to a church, mosque or any other corresponding meeting place.
  • If you have made a non-urgent appointment for some health service, postpone your appointment.
  • Do not use public transportation vehicles (train, bus, airplane). If you need a taxi, request one with a plexiglass.

Avoid using the elevator, do not move on the condominium's public premises, and do not use the condominium's sauna. Avoid touching banisters and other surfaces that other people touch.

Remember to observe good cough, sniffle and hand hygiene.

You can engage in outdoor activities, but avoid other people. Keep at least a 2-meter a distance to passers-by.

2. See the quarantine instructions

The City of Vantaa applies the National Institute for Health and Welfare's (THL) instructions, published on August 2, 2021, to the duration of coronavirus quarantine.

The duration of the quarantine is 10 days to all the exposed, but a person without symptoms may shorten the duration of their quarantine with a negative coronavirus sample, taken at the earliest 6 days after exposure.

Here’s what you should do:

  1. Check the correct time for the test. A test that may shorten the duration of your quarantine may be taken at the earliest 6 days after the last exposure. For example, you were exposed on August 10 -> the test can be taken at the earliest on August 16. A sample taken earlier will not shorten the duration of your quarantine.
  2. Primarily make an online appointment at: https://koronabotti.hus.fi/
  3. Go to have the sample taken while observing the quarantine instructions and continue your quarantine till you get the test result.
  4. If the test is negative and you have no symptoms, the quarantine can be ended.

If the sample is positive, stay at home and read the instructions online and wait for infection tracing to contact you.

An exposed person shall monitor potential appearance of symptoms for 14 days from exposure and go immediately to a coronavirus test if symptoms arise.
