County elections
Predominantly female council for wellbeing services county
The council members of the Vantaa and Kerava wellbeing services county were selected in the county elections on January 23, 2022. According to the preliminary results, 68.1% of the new councilors are women, while men constitute 31.9%.
The division of parties is consistent with the national situation. The National Coalition Party won 26.9% of the votes cast and became the biggest party in the county council. The party gained 19 council places.
The second biggest party, SDP (the Social Democratic Party of Finland), won 23.3% of the votes cast and gained 17 council places. The party that came in third in the Vantaa and Kerava wellbeing services county is the Green League that won 12.9% of the votes cast and 9 council places.

The average age of the councilors is 49 years. The age distribution is as follows:

Of the 69 councilors just selected, 60 come from Vantaa and 9 from Kerava.
The majority consists of present members of the municipal council
The majority of the new county councilors, 48, already act as members of the municipal council. Five of the selected county councilors act both as members of the parliament and members of the municipal council. Of the county councilors selected, 16 have no earlier experience in trustee tasks.
The professional background of the county councilors is wide and varied. When looking at the vocational and degree titles the councilors announced, one can see that 40 councilors work, study or have otherwise acquired competency in health care.
Other vocations are represented to a lesser extent. Nevertheless, the county council will be provided with versatile vocational competency: the councilors have backgrounds in law, administration, commerce, entrepreneurship, as well as social work. The state church, the police and the media are also represented in the new county council.
The voting percentage in the Vantaa and Kerava wellbeing services county was the lowest in the country as a whole. After advance voting, the voting percentage was the only one in Finland that fell below 20% (19.5%). On the actual election day, 19.7% of those legible to vote in the county elections did so.
The voting percentage in the entire Vantaa and Kerava wellbeing services county was 39.2%, whereas it amounted to 47.5% in the country as a whole. In Vantaa 38% of those eligible to vote voted, while the percentage in Kerava amounted to 46.8%.
