Peijas Emergency Department pilots remote appointments
Peijas Emergency Department will introduce remote appointments for a pilot period from the start of October. Patients may receive urgent care by having a video call with a doctor.
Residents of Kerava and Vantaa who are over the age of 16 have the opportunity to attend a doctor’s appointment at Peijas Emergency Department remotely via video during the pilot period. The pilot runs from October 1 to December 19, 2021. Remote appointments at the emergency department are available during the most crowded times: on Fridays from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
At a remote appointment, the patient receives urgent help at home without needing to travel to the hospital’s emergency department. The remote appointments also reduce the number of patients at the emergency department, making it easier for patients there to receive care.
Maisa Video Visits as the appointment platform
Patients will be directed to the remote appointments at Peijas Emergency Department via the Medical Helpline 116117. A nurse from the Medical Helpline will assess the caller’s need for care and, if suitable, book them a remote appointment with a doctor.
The remote appointment will be conducted via the Maisa Video Visit application. You can attend a Maisa Video Visit with a mobile phone or a tablet by downloading the Maisa and Maisa Videovastaanotto apps from an app store, or with a computer and an internet browser at the address www.maisa.fi. Patients need strong electronic identification–online banking credentials or a mobile certificate–to use the service.
