Take the COVID-19 vaccines recommended for you.

COVID-19 vaccines protect effectively against severe coronavirus disease. At the moment, all 18-year-olds and older are recommended to take three shots of COVID-19 vaccine. The third shot will be administered 5-6 months after the second shot. Read more information on COVID-19 vaccines here.

If you get symptoms, stay at home and, when required, go to COVID-19 testing.

We recommend that you stay at home, if you have even mild symptoms indicative of coronavirus infection.

The symptoms of coronavirus consist of the following:

  • headache
  • smell or taste disorders
  • sniffles, nasal congestion
  • cough
  • shortness of breath
  • weakness, tiredness
  • myalgia
  • sore throat, hoarse throat
  • fever
  • nausea, vomiting
  • diarrhea

In particular, over-12-year-old non-vaccinated people should take a COVID-19 test. In certain cases, also the vaccinated should take a COVID-19 test. Check Vantaa’s instructions for COVID-19 testing. link

You can assess your symptoms and make an appointment for a test on HUS’ Koronabotti service.

Observe social distancing

You can contract coronavirus also from a symptomless person.

We recommend that:

  • You observe social distancing on public indoor premises. Public indoor premises consist of, for instance, malls and public transportation,
  • Follow the instructions of arrangers at public events,
  • Do not shake hands.

Wash your hands, cough into your sleeve.

You should wash your hands especially:

  • when coming in from outdoors
  • before cooking and eating
  • always after using the restroom
  • after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing
  • after touching the same surface as a person with a cold.

If you cannot wash your hands, use hand sanitizer.

Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth, unless you just recently washed your hands.

Cough and sneeze into a handkerchief, and put the handkerchief immediately into a trashcan. If you do not have a handkerchief, cough or sneeze into the upper part of your sleeve.

Wear a face mask whenever surrounded by several other people

A face mask will prevent droplets from spreading into the environment. When you wear a face mask, you protect others against infection. In addition, the face mask—depending on its type—will also protect its wearer to some extent.

Wear a face mask in situations where the risk of infection is big; for example, public indoor spaces with several people.

We recommend that over-12-year-olds wear a face mask whenever they cannot observe social distancing.
